 Welcome

We have been presenting professional concerts of chamber music in Stratford for over forty years, and aim to promote a variety of younger and more experienced groups of the highest quality we can afford.  We have a loyal following among the local community, but offer a warm welcome to newcomers, either for a one-off visit, or as regular subscribers.

The concerts take place during the winter months on Sunday evenings, and are housed in a purpose-built music room, originally belonging to the novelist Marie Corelli, within the Shakespeare Institute in Church Street, now the property of Birmingham University.

A very friendly society, members of the audience feel more like guests at a private musical soirée.

By happy accident rather than calculated planning, the concerts for the 2007/2008 season each contain a work by Beethoven, and better still, works from each of his so-called three periods are represented. There is, of course, a great deal of other wonderful music to be experienced. We pay worthy tribute to Sir Edward Elgar in our first concert with one of his best chamber works, and I’m particularly pleased to welcome the very distinguished cellist Alexander Baillie with James Lisney in November. We have two exciting young quartets, both formed at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester under the late- lamented Christopher Rowland, our first group of wind players for some time, and finally, a group led by David Le Page, the leader of Stratford’s own professional orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan.

Please show us your support by taking out a subscription. I’m sure you won’t regret it.  Come and try us out !
